It’s not too late to file a tax return to claim your missing stimulus money! The IRS extended the tax-filing deadline to May 17, 2021. Even after the deadline, you can still file to claim your money! If you do not owe any Federal taxes, then you can file your return after the deadline without a penalty - in fact, you have 3 years to claim your refund. For information on the Child Tax Credit, visit the Tax Help page.
If you had very little earned income or no earned income in 2020 and you are only filing a 2020 return to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit, use GetCTC.org or the IRS Non-Filer Sign-Up Tool for an easier way to claim your check.
If you earned enough money to qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, had too much in taxes withheld from your paychecks, or are eligible for other tax credits, file a full tax return. Do not use GetCTC.org or the IRS Non-filer Sign-up Tool - those tools will not allow you to claim as much money as you are due.
